This report card was from my senior year tutorial class in which I spent an entire semester designing a cultural museum for a site in Quebec City. One tower will be 84 stories high; the other, 74.The project, known as Forma, will sit near Roy Thomson Hall, the current home of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, on streets Mr. Gehry roamed in his youth, when the area was dominated by railway lines and warehouses.&nbsp; It began as a collaboration between Mr. Gehry and David Mirvish, the theater owner who Mr. Gehry knew from Mr. Mirvish’s days as a private art gallery owner. The original plan, unveiled a decade ago, was for three towers of more than 80 stories each, but was scaled back after backlash from the public and from some politicians. The final design preserves, rather than knocks down, the Princess of Wales Theatre and retains two of the four warehouses that would have been demolished in the first plan. </div> Frank Gehry and Development Team Celebrate the Ground Breaking of Future Landmark, Forma&nbsp; Matias Bessai, Urban Toronto&nbsp; After over a decade of dreaming and planning, the ceremonial start of construction of Forma was celebrated today at what was likely one of the most anticipated ground breaking events in recent memory. Closing Ed Mirvish Way to traffic for the morning, the event was attended by about a hundred people, including the extensive project team from Great Gulf, Dream Unlimited, Westdale Properties, and was highlighted by a speech from Frank Gehry himself, before the shovels where thrust into ceremonial ground to officially mark the start of the historic project.&nbsp; <img src="https://greatgulfstrapi.blob.core.windows.net/greatgulf/lorabay/Gehry2_bf16775184_d5ff69c83a.jpg">&nbsp; First to take the podium was Ausma Malik, Councillor of Toronto’s Ward 10, Spadina-Fort York, within which is the Forma site.
